Revenge Homecoming

The scene opens up at the Vorster estate in the early morning in the slave pen. Jock and Kya are 
sleeping together in one of the huts. Kya cuddles up to Jock more, murring in her sleep.  Sunlight 
begins to beam through the cracks in the hut. Jock turns to hide his face from the sunlight. Kya 
hears the gate open with her super hearing and she wakes up. Jock feels Kya waking up and 
does the same, yawning.

Kya (yawns) Mornin' Jock.

Jock(smiling) Morning Kya. Sleep well?

Kya (smiles) Ja.

Both of them exit the hut and see the normal two bowls of food in front of the gate. Jock goes to 
his bowl, picks it up and begins to chow down.  As Kya goes to her bowl, she is struck with a 
rock. She yips as she is hit. Jock immediately looks up at her.

Jock: Kya!

Kya rubs her shoulder and another rock strikes her. Jock immediately goes and puts his body 
over her, putting him between her and the fence. Jaco Vorster was on the other side of the fence 
holding a rock. He looks at Jaco and growls

Jock: Stop that! You know your mother doesn't like you doing this!

Jaco grins evilly and ignores Jock and throws the rock in his hand as Mariaan comes out of the 
mansion. 

Mariaan (shocked) Jaco!

Kya whimpers a little as she holds her injured shoulder. As Jock treats her, Mariaan comes 
running up to the cage

Mariaan: You two all right?

Jock (worried) Kya's shoulder is injured.

Mariaan: I'll go get a first-aid kit.

She turns and runs for the house. While doing so, she grabs Jaco by the ear and drags him to the 
house.  Kya yips as she tries to move her arm. Jock looks at her arm, gently touching her 
shoulder.

Jock: Hurt there?

Kya (whimpers a little) One of the rocks struck hard there.

Jock: Grrr! That stupid Jaco. He's sometimes worse than his father.

Kya (whimpers) He had an encounter with my oldest brother. I smelled his scent on Jaco. 
Shotgun could have angered him somehow.

Jock: Well, now Jaco has angered me.

Kya (yips a little) Shotgun is one of the shapeshifters of my family that lives in the Americas. The 
Road Rovers must have needed him on a mission that Jaco was involved in.

Jock: I hope they taught him a lesson.

Mariaan comes out of the house with a first-aid kit

Kya: That is probably the reason he is back here.

Jock: Yes.

Mariaan comes, opens the gate to the pen and gives the kit to Jock, who takes it. He lifts the 
back of Kya’s shift and begins to treat her injury.

Mariaan: Is it bad?

Jock: Not so far I can see. Kya?

Kya: It hurts a little to move my arm.

Jock takes out a tube of salve.

Jock: Can you show me where you're hurt?

Kya points out the areas that the rocks struck her. Jock squeezes some salve from the tube onto 
the spot, then begins to rub it in. Kya yips as he rubs it in.  Mariaan watches Jock rub the salve, 
then sighs.

Mariaan: I'm jammer, Kya. Jaco just came back from America, where he and some students 
were arrested after causing a disturbance at a university involving mutants.

Kya (sad): I smelled one of my brother’s scent on him. He must of angered Jaco.

Mariaan: Is his name Shotgun, perhaps?

Kya (nods, sad) Ja.

Mariaan: Then I guess you will face a lot of hostility from Jaco. Shotgun was the one who 
exposed his group's activities to the police.

Kya sighs. Jock keeps rubbing the salve in.

Jock: Feel a little better there?

Kya: Ja. A little.

Mariaan: Jock, you will need to try and protect Kya whenever you can. Jaco will not stop 
harming her so easily.

Jock (nods) I will, mistress.

Mariaan: Goed. Jaco will leave in a few days for some kind of camp out, but until then you two 
are vulnerable.

Later that day, Kya and Jock were pulling weeds out of the gardens. Kya is a few yards away 
from Jock. Jaco is sneaking up close to her with a paintball rifle. Jock turns to toss some of the 
weeds onto a pile behind them, then spots Jaco from the corner of his eye. Jaco begins to squeeze 
the trigger.  Kya hears him and she jumps away as the paintballs begin to fire. Jock barks in anger 
and jumps at Jaco, reaching to grab the gun and Jaco's neck. Mariaan runs out of the mansion to 
see what the commotion is. 

Jock (growls) Don't you dare even harm a piece a fur on her.

Jock and Jaco are struggling for control of the gun, but Jock is much stronger. He wrestles Jaco to 
the ground and takes the gun away. Mariaan comes running to the two.

Mariaan: It's all right, Jock. I'll handle things from here. Let him go.

Jock backs off still growling. Jaco gets up, and then Mariaan immediately grabs him by the one 
ear.

Mariaan (angry) How many times have I told you not to fire that thing at others?

Jaco: But mother, it's a just mutant!

Mariaan (angry) Doesn't matter! I need these mutants for work and they won't be able to do it if they 
are hurt from some paintballs!

Jock goes over to Kya's side glaring angrily at Jaco. Mariaan grabs Jaco by the ear, and he 
winches in pain.

Mariaan (angry) You go to your room and do something else other than harassing the workmen.

Jaco (in pain): Ja, mom!

Jock growls at Jaco as he hugs Kya.  Mariaan drags Jaco to the house by the ear. As she does, 
Jock turns his attention to Kya.

Jock: You all right?

Kya (nods) Ja. I heard him coming and got out of the way in time.

Jock: Good. I hope the Mistress can keep him away. He is almost as bad as his father.

Kya: I can tell.

Jock: We had best keep weeding, but I'll stay close to you in case Jaco comes back for us.

Kya (nods) Ja.

As they are weeding, Kya gets a queasy look on her face. Jock pulls the weeds again, keeping 
close to Kya. As he does, he notices her queasy face and looks concerned at her.

Jock: Kya? You all right?

Kya (looking sick) I don't feel so good.

Jock(concerned) You ill?

Kya moans a little.

Kya (looking sick) I feel woozy.

Jock comes and makes Kya lie down.

Jock: Easy, lie down. Let me get you some water.

Guard (stern) Get back to work, slaves!

Jock(pointing at Kya): She is still and needs just a little water!

Kya faints. Jock gasps and rushes over to Kya. He shakes her.

Jock: Kya?! Kya!

Guard (stern) Wake up, slave!

The guard goes to hit Kya but Jock stops him.

Jock(angry): Get the Mistress! She will be very angry if one of us slaves die. We are quite 
expense, so she might have to get the money from your salaries!

The guard sneers then goes to get Mariaan. Jock kneels next to Kya, trying to help her but 
without much success. Mariaan comes running out of the house. Mariaan rushes up to the two 
canos and kneels next to them. She checks over Kya.

Mariaan(stern) What happened?

Jock (worried) As we were working, Kya said she wasn't feeling so good, then she fainted.

Mariaan looks her over more, then looks back at Jock.

Mariaan: Come. Carry her into the living room. I'll go and prepare something for her.

Jock picks up Kya and follows Mariaan into the house. Mariaan leads them into the home's living 
room.

Mariaan: Put her on the couch.

She heads for the kitchen.  As Jock lies Kya down on the couch, Kya slowly awakens.

Jock(concerned) Kya?

Kya (weak) Jock . . .

Jock takes her one paw and holds it tightly.

Jock: Kya... what is wrong?

Kya (weak) I feel sick. I never been this sick before . . .

Jock squeezes her paw tightly. Mariaan comes in holding a tea cup filled with a hot fluid. She 
holds to Kya's mouth.

Mariaan: Open your mouth. It will taste bad, but it makes you feel better.

Kya opens her mouth and drinks the liquid. She frowns a little with the bad taste. Mariaan holds 
the cup and tilts it more to help Kya drink it empty.

Mariaan: Drink that last bit.

Kya drinks the last of it. Mariaan takes the cup back to the kitchen. Jock looks at Kya.

Jock: Feeling... better?

Kya (weak) A little. My stomach hurts.

Jock rubs Kya's stomach.

Jock: You probably ate something. I feel you are getting a little bigger.

Mariaan comes back into the living room. Mariaan looks at the two canos as she sits down in a 
chair.

Mariaan: Feeling better, Kya.

Kya (weak) Just my stomach hurts now.

Mariaan: I am not surprised. It happens to expectant mothers.

Jock (shocked) Huh?!

Mariaan: Simple, Jock. Kya is pregnant.

Kya's face is in shock.

Mariaan(smiling): Congratulations.

Jock passes out on the floor.

Mariaan: Oh dear.

Kya (sad) Please, can you keep it a secret . . .

Mariaan: We had better. I wouldn't want Adriaan or my son to find out about this.

Jock begins to awaken

Kya (sad, worried) I don't want my offspring to be born as a slave.

Mariaan(nods): We should think of a way to put you and your pup out of harms way.

Kya begins to cry.  Jock goes to Kya and holds her close.

Jock: I know how you feel. I also don't want to bring a pup into this world, certainly not in this 
country.

Kya (sad) What are we going to do?

Jock(shakes head): I.... I'm not sure.

Kya: I have human friends in South Africa. Maybe they can get my offspring out of here.

Mariaan: Can they?

Kya: They can probably get my offspring to my family. I don't want my puppy here.

Mariaan(nods): I understand, but how can we do it?

Kya twitches her ears hearing footsteps.

Kya (whispers) Someone is coming.

Jock picks up Kya and takes her out of the room as Jaco comes into the room. Jock takes Kya 
back to the slave pen. He takes her into his hut and lays her down on the straw.

Jock(still in shock): I'm... a father...

Kya (in shock) I'm going to be a . . . mother . .

Jock holds Kya in his arms. He hugs Kya tightly.

Jock: If we weren't in this... situation.... I would be ecstatic.

Kya (sad) Yeah . . .

Kya sighs and cries a little. Jock rubs her belly.

Kya (looks up at Jock) I don't know what we should do? Vorster and the guards are going to 
know that I am pregnant when I begin to show.

Kya cries. Jock puts his arms around Kya, holding her close and trying to comfort 
her.

Kya (crying) I am not ready for this.

Jock (holds) : Me neither, but we have to be strong... for the sake of our unborn 
pup.

Kya cries as she holds Jock. He rubs Kya's belly.
