Chapter 01 The air along the lone highway was pretty still. Golden brown leaves lightly fell upon the pavement from the nearby trees. The Autumn temperatures were a bit chilly, though fortunately, there was no danger of frost. Driving along quietly in a large motor home, a young man listened to a radio weather channel. It was a quiet drive, as it had been the many many times before that he had driven this route. Just then, six fancy racing motorcycles sped past his motor home. He grumbled a little when he saw them. "Is driving anywhere sacred anymore?" But then he noticed one liscence plate. It read: R-ROVER. The motorcycles then sped away up the highway. Almost exactly five minutes later, an armored ATV pulled up beside his motor home. It was being driven by a very ugly military general and a tall slender woman wearing a totally pale red suit. He rolled down his window when the general made the motions for it, then the general asked, "Have you seen six motorcycles pass by here?" The young man nodded his head. "Yeah, I did. Acted like they owned the road. You're only five minutes behind them. They passed me up without even a wave." The general glared up the highway, then turned back to the young man. "You've been very helpful." He tossed a roll of thousand dollar bills through the open motor home window, and then, the armored ATV sped forward, down the highway ahead of the young man's motor home. Soon, the young man pulled his motor home into a road side rest area, and began to examine the roll of cash. It proved to be exactly $50,000. He gawked in disbelief. "This is crazy." Who were those people? Someone crazy enough to throw away $50,000 without a second thought. He sat back in his recliner as he turned on the motor home's TV. There was a live news broadcast going, showing the scenes of a battle over in the next county. The world famous Road Rovers were pinned down by their arch-enemy, General Parvo and Groomer. The Canomutants were firing live ammo at the Rover's position, though the Rovers were trying their best to defend against the attack. The young man looked at the money, then at the news broadcast. "What have I done?" The young man dug out a signed photo from Blitz. It was personalized to him via airmail with no return address. "Please don't hate me. I didn't know..." He knew he had to do something. The money he'd keep. It's expensive to drive a motor home around too often. Money like this would help. But now, he had to make it up to his friends. He hoped he could get there in time. He knew what R-ROVER meant now. They were the Road Rovers. By the power of the pack! Ahrooooooo! He put the photo away, and climbed into the driver's seat once again. He started up the motor home and pulled out of the rest area. He drove towards the next county. He was going to try to save the butts of his heroes. He owed it to them. He could only think about Blitz not liking him anymore. "Please don't hold this against me, guys. Please..." Chapter 02 "How's he doing, Exile?" Hunter asked, while firing over the barracade at the Cano-Mutants. Exile was busy placing a head-dressing on Blitz's head. Shag was finished the tying of the tourniquette on Blitz's bleeding leg. Blitz was unconscious. Exile replied, "Weird boy is in very bad shape, comrade. He needs a doctor." Colleen was also firing her rocket launcher at the Cano-Mutants. "At least the blokes aren't multiplying, luv. He needs a doctor? We're in a bit of a spot." Exile tried to make Blitz more comfortable. "I hope Muzzle's motorcycle is okay." Hunter shuddered. "I hope Muzzle is okay. We were steering his motorcycle via remote control." Colleen turned a little green. "I just hope he's not loose." Hunter fired his weapon at the Cano-Mutants again. "I think we'd know if Muzzle was loose, guys." The young man pulled his motor home into the parking lot. He got out and noticed the crashed motorcycles. He went over and started loading the motorcycles into his motor home. No one was watching, with the battle going on further over in the junk yard. As the young man was loading the last motorcyle, something caught his eye. He finished loading the motorcycle, then headed over and pulled the sheets of tin roofing. As he pulled the last one off, he noticed the whimpering rottweiler, seemingly strapped to a hospital tray. As he carefully flipped over the tray, the whimpering became a rabid snarl. "Muzzle?" Muzzle tilted his head and sniffed at the young man. Then, Muzzle whimpered a little. The young man nodded his head. "Your friends are in trouble, Muzzle. I'm going to let you loose. You gotta help them." He began unstrapping the tray. As the last strap on the straightjacket became undone, Muzzle bolted out and into the junk yard, and... The ensuing sounds of terror were horrendous! Colleen blinked her eyes. "Don't look now, luv, but Muzzle IS loose!" Hunter hummed. "Now how'd he get out of his straight jacket?" Muzzle was all over the Cano-Mutants and was beginning to eye General Parvo and Groomer, who were pulling back and retreating. Chapter 03 Exile watched for a moment, then exclaimed, "Muzzle frightens me, comrades. Let's get weird boy out of here." Shag picked up Blitz carefully in his arms, and the Road Rovers then made a break back towards where they had left their motorcycles. Muzzle followed them when he had his fill of muzzling the Cano-Mutants. When they arrived, the young man was still waiting on them. "Get in!" He commanded. The Rovers blinked their eyes, but obeyed. They were in a hurry. Then, after Muzzle bounded up and into the motor home's open door, the young man closed the door, and got the motor home underway back towards his own county. Colleen tried to get friendly with their host. "'ello luv! And who might you be?" The young man never took his eyes off the road as he drove. "Don't bother me. Go sit down." Colleen huh'ed? "Don't blow a gasket. I'm just trying to be friendly." The young man actually growled. "Look, Colleen... you'll get the same respect from me that you give Blitz. Now please, go sit down." Colleen was taken aback by that statement. "But... I... okay luv." Colleen rejoined the others. "Our host has a liking for what's-his- name." Exile blinked his eyes, glancing up towards the front. "He likes weird boy? That's a first." Hunter sat there petting Blitz's head. "Guys, I am sure our new friend has a reason for being on edge. We'll give him the time to tell us. But right now, Blitz needs a doctor immediately!" The young man sighed, then exclaimed, "I'm sorry... I do like Blitz... he airmailed me a signed picture of himself last year when I asked for it. He was the only Rover who responded to my letters. That's why he's my favorite." The young man coughed, choked up a little. "As for a doctor, just trust me. I know where we're going." Hunter spoke up to the young man. "Just where are you taking us?" The young man kept driving for awhile, then replied, "I'm taking you to Team Millennium's home base. They'll be able to help Blitz. And don't worry, they're not human..." Exile exclaimed, "They aren't? Bolsheva! What are they then?" The young man kept focused on the highway, then, turned the motor home onto a side road and drove towards a darkened forest surrounding a mountain. "Team Millennium are anisapiens, like you're canosapiens. Their leader is a German Shepherd, code-named, Animax. He's pretty fair, for a leader. And he trusts me. That's always a bonus. And I trust him. He calls me Rob." Rob pushed a button on the dashboard, as they drove into the darkened forest, which proved to be some sort of entry tunnel. The Road Rovers were pretty impressed.
