Name: Earl Hawkins

Background: Earl Hawkins was an ambitious, up and coming agent in the Earth Defense Force who worked his way up to becoming one of the best agents in the organization. However, the EDF itself was steadily growing weaker and by the time the Iron Fist crisis had occurred, the decision was made to disband the organization. Hawkins did not like this and tried to rally support to prevent this from happening. However, the disbanding went ahead and Hawkins, furious at this, gathered a group of disgruntled EDF agents and staff members and defected, stealing a large amount of money from EDF coffers. Using these resources, Hawkins founded the Vanguard, an organization intended to succeed the EDF. Since then, the Vanguard has been steadily growing in power under his leadership while conducting its own research and development program. One such program involved abducting canines in an attempt to copy the Road Rovers' Transdogmafier. However, this operation was halted by Unit STRIKE, during which Hawkins was struck by the energy unleashed by the transformation machine. This turned him into a mutant hybrid and forced him to go into hiding.
Physical: In his human form, Hawkins stood at 6 feet, had brown hair and eyes and a muscular and athletic build. Following his transformation, Hawkins turned into a Doberman hybrid standing at 6 foot 9 with an even more muscular build, four arms instead of two, large bat-like wings and red/black fur all over his body. He usually wears a simple smock and shorts designed to fit his new form.
Demeanor: Ambitious and intelligent, Hawkins will stop at nothing to achieve what he thinks is rightly his. Sometimes tends to be arrogant, but otherwise maintains a cool demeanor. He is also very angry at both Norwood (for disbanding the EDF) and Striker (blaming him for his mutation).
Special Abilities: Strategist and planner, capable fighter. His new hybrid abilities are unknown at this stage.

Name: Yang Suchong

Background: Yang Suchong was born in Taipei and became interested in biology while in high school. From there, he studied at a leading Taiwanese university before going to the United States to earn a Harvard degree. While he was very good in his chosen fields, many of his colleagues and fellow scientists were uneasy about some of his work, particularly when it came to manipulating genes. This would eventually get him into trouble when, while working at a bio-technology company, Suchong carried several unauthorized experiments on animals. Reported to his seniors by co-workers, Suchong was fired for violating company rules and for animal cruelty. Furious, Suchong sued the company and actually managed to win in court, though the trial was considered very contentious. While trying to start his company, Suchong was approached by the Vanguard to do work for them. Suchong, upon hearing the job offering and the generous grants, eagerly agreed.
Physical: Suchong stands at 5 feet, has dark brown hair and has almost pale skin. While at work he always wears a lab coat, with brown paints and blue shirt. Otherwise he simply wears casual clothing. His lab coat's pockets are always full of medical tools.
Demeanor: Highly intelligent to the point of being insufferable. A perfectionist who tends to lose his temper when things go wrong. Willing to take big risks in the name of science.
Special Abilities: An expert in the field of genetics, biology and bio-engineering.
Weapon of Choice: None. He prefers to be unarmed, but will use anything at his disposal for defense.

Name: Hardboot

Background: Hardboot was the leader of a large wolf pack before he was captured by Vanguard scouts and turned into their first transformed wolf-sapien. He tired to take over as soon as he was transformed, but he was sedated and gassed with the mind washing machine. Later, Hardboot was used as a stud to another wolf named Jinx, but she escaped. He was sent to recaptured her and her newborn twins, but she was now protected by refugees from the KH Military. Despite this failure, he was assigned as Earl Hawkins's bodyguard. Not long after the mindwashing wore off, but he pretends to be still under the mindwash to try to take out Hawkins. He always fails.
Physical: Suchong stands at 5 feet, has dark brown hair and has almost pale skin. While at work he always wears a lab coat, with brown paints and blue shirt. Otherwise he simply wears casual clothing. His lab coat's pockets are always full of medical tools.
Demeanor: Hardboot is very sinister and doesn't like to be second. He wants to take over the Vanguard for himself but is always foiled. He also wants Jinx to be his mate and wants his cubs to follow in his pawprints, while also wanting to kill her new mate Vice and their daughter Iris. He hates Stalker and the KH Military in general, blaming him for Jinx escaping him.
Special Abilities: Super strength. He is also a good marksman.

Name: Reggie Vanderberg

Background: Reggie Vanderberg was a typical American teenager who enjoyed computers and video games, which often got him into trouble at school. In college Reggie's skills at programming allowed him to earn good grades, but he tended to skip classes and getting into trouble with his lectures. This culminated in an incident in which Vanderberg broke into the college's computers and got arrested. But before he could be tried in court, the Vanguard got him out of trouble in exchange for working for the organization as a programmer and hacker. Enticed by the job offer and eager to avoid jail time, Reggie agreed and joined the Vanguard.
Physical: Vanderberg stands at 5 feet 5, has brown hair and green eyes. He usually wears a black shirt with a smiley face on it, denim jeans and red/white sneakers. Sometimes he wears a denim jacket over his shirt and carries a black canvas backpack.
Demeanor: Vanderberg is laid back to the point of almost being lazy and prefers to be inside an office or his own quarters working/playing on his computers. Tends to be a clever talker with a lot of snark and has a great interest in talking about technology and computers. He prefers not to fight.
Special Abilities: Computer programming and cracking.
Weapon of Choice: None. He uses whatever item is close at hand, though he is poorly trained in firearms.

Name: Frank Thomason

Background: Frank Thomason joined the British Army as soon as he left school and distinguished himself from his peers by being a very effective soldier and squad commander. Eventually he was taken up in the elite SAS unit, where his performance in leading raids in the Middle East earned him an invitation to join the Earth Defence Force. Thomason earned further promotion and eventually was put in charge of the European division of EDF agents. However, very soon after the EDF was disbanded in favor of the Road Rovers, angering Thomason and many of his colleagues who were forced to take up their old jobs in their former armies. Thomason was then contacted by the Vanguard and, with his help, brought many former EDF agents into the fold of the new organisation.
Physical: Thomason stands at 6 feet 4, has black, crew-cut hair, black moustache and brown eyes. He often wears the Proto-L Battle Armor with a beret in place of the helmet when not in active combat. Otherwise he wears a black and grey camo-uniform with black beret and combat boots.
Demeanor: Thomason is a stern, no-nonsense individual with a strong sense of duty and commitment to the task at hand. He also harbors a resentment towards the Road Rovers and those who support it.
Special Abilities: Extensive training with the British SAS and Earth Defence Force.

Name: Mikhail Andropov

Background: Mikhail Andropov was a member of the former Soviet Union's armed forces, but found the regular army pay insufficient for his need to enjoy the high life. As a result, he eagerly joined Alexander Illanov and other fellow officers in selling Soviet weapons and equipment to outside parties. However, when Illanov became involved in Matrix's Totallator plot, Andropov panicked due to all the attention from the KGB and fled the USSR to Cuba. There he found a job in Fidel Castro's army, and later in government. His knowledge of logistics and grasp of financial matters allowed him to help the Cuban government through the financial crisis that erupted due to the collapse of its ally, the Soviet Union. Eventually Andropov earned enough money to start his own business as a financial advisor, his clients generally those who do not wish to let law enforcement agencies find out about their activities. The money Andropov earned allowed him to live a rich man with an active night life. Eventually Andropov was recruited by the Vanguard to handle their financial affairs in the Caribbean for a huge sum of money. Andropov wasted no time in joining.
Physical: Andropov stands at 5 feet 7, black hair and beard and brown eyes. He is rather portly due to too much good food, though he still has enough physical strength due to his training in the army. He usually dresses in fancy, expensive clothing.
Demeanor: Andropov is an opportunist, always seeking to make money to sustain his lavish lifestyle. He can be charming and sophisticated, but his darker tendencies such as greed tend to emerge when dealing with money or his personal safety. He also tends to be paranoid, especially fearing that the KGB might one day return for him.
Special Abilities: An expert in financial matters and the underworld of the global market along with basic combat knowledge from his army service.

Background: Hounder was the charismatic leader of a pack of stray dogs that roamed the streets of Los Angeles, always staying one step ahead of dog catchers and animal control. However their luck ran out when the pack was caught by undercover Vanguard operators and taken to a Vanguard laboratory to be changed into cano-sapiens. Recognized for his leadership, Hounder was made the leader of his own squad. Enjoying the privileges and benefits he never got as a stray, Hounder became an eager and willing member of the Vanguard and proved himself a very capable leader as well as a charming individual amongst his colleagues.
Physical: Hounder stands at 6 feet, has mostly brown fur with white fur on his muzzle and face running down the front of his body and white fur on his paws, feet and tail tip. He has floppy ears like a spaniel and the muzzle of a collie. While on duty he wears a Proto-L Battle Armor suit. Off duty he dresses in smart casual.
Demeanor: Hounder has a suave, charismatic personality that can win over even his opponents. He's a smooth talker and a strong attraction towards the opposite sex, particularly female collies.
Special Abilities: Hounder can create saw blades of pure energy in his paws, which he can either use in hand-to-hand combat or throw as ranged weapons.

Name: Mei Jing

Background: Mei Jing was born in a Chinese zoo as part of a breeding program to improve the panda population, but was bought by EuroCorp to be used their Chinese labs as part of a new research field in the AniCom project. While Mei was successfully turned into an ursa-sapien, when AniCom was exposed in Europe and EuroCorp decided to scrap the project, the panda was let loose by lab staff in Shanghai. She wandered the streets, becoming a local curiosity and fending off criminals and poachers until a local news station picked her up as a mascot. Mei Jing soon showed great interest in journalism and thus was taught how to be a reporter. During this same time Mei Jing was spotted by the Vanguard and approached to be an agent in exchange for advancing her career. Eager, Mei Jing agreed and not only studied as a journalist, but also trained to be a Vanguard operative, both at which she excelled. Later, she was given a special combat suit made entirely of nano-bots and a microchip implant in her brain that allows her to control it. And with that, the panda's stock began to rise, not only becoming a prominent reporter, especially in China, but also a deadly and efficient operative for the Vanguard.
Physical: Mei Jing stands at 6 feet 7, has mostly white fur with black fur around her eyes, across her chest, her arms and lower legs and the tip of her short tail. Her hair is dyed deep purple and tied in two buns with ponytails reaching to her shoulders. She usually makes her Nano Combat Suit appear like a Chinese jacket with matching pants and golden ankle and wrist bracers with the Ying Yang symbol on them, but during missions the suit changes into a blue Chinese open robe with gold trimmings, shoulder pauldrons and leg guards with the same matching color and a mask over her muzzle.
Demeanor: Mei Jing is enthusiastic, hardworking and always curious about the world as well as eager to get a news story. However, she can also be quite ferocious in her effort to get a story or complete a mission for the Vanguard, and is willing to break laws or violate morals in order to get what she needs.
Special Abilities: Mei Jing can create prisms of energy in her paws which she can use as blades or projectiles. These prisms are further enhanced when she uses the Nano Combat Suit.
